I heard on the news today that Winston Churchill is to appear on the United Kingdom’s £5 bank note which will enter circulation in 2016. He will be the only politician from the modern era to appear on a banknote. The design includes a portrait of the former Prime Minister, adapted from a photograph taken by Yousuf Karsh on 30 December, 1941 and which is now owned by the National Portrait Gallery in London.
Coincidentally I was in London last month visiting the Man Ray exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery (on until the 27th May 2013 if you want to catch it) and snapped this image of the great man (or at least his statue) whilst taking a detour around Westminster.
Taken with my Panasonic GF1 and the 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens. Image editing in Aperture and the onOne Perfect Photo Suite 7 plug-in.
