Today (August 19th) is World Photo Day, “an international photography event that celebrates the passion for photography in our communities”.
August 19th is chosen as the data for World Photo Day because on that day in 1839 the French government purchased the patent for the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic processes developed by Joseph Nicèphore Nièpce and Louis Daguerre and announced the invention as a gift “Free to the World”.
