My Friday Foto this week is of the social entrepreneur and ‘artivist’ Anisa Haghdadi founder of Beatfreeks, a youth engagement agency that helps brands better connect with young people through socially focused projects. The company strives to employ minority young people for events and campaigns to develop skills and confidence. She has most recently set up Doink an organisation that “through creative storytelling, crafted curation and imaginative design, helps people and businesses make the most of their information enabling them to unlock innovation as a result”.
This week Anisa was named one of Forbes 30 under 30 Social Entrepreneurs. This is a much deserved award for Anisa as she is a tireless campaigner in support of young people in Birmingham, getting them the help they need to build their skills and confidence.
Anisa was also one of the speakers at TEDx Brum last year and gave a truly inspiring talk telling us how we need to “build the thing that builds more things” (as she is doing with Beatfreeks and Doink). You can see her talk here.
I photographed Anisa at Impact Hub Birmingham last year as part of my Smarter Lives project. Here are three of my favourite images from that shoot.
